let it...

Let it flow.
Let it come from the deepest being you can feel.
Let it fester, and fester.
Let it get hot like a burning volcano.
Let it explode.
Let it run from your burning heart to the burning keys.
Let it be said.
Let it be told.
Let it make you feel.
Let it make you cold.

not to touch the earth

for anonymous

No, no, go not to Lethe, neither twist
Wolf's-bane, tight-rooted, for its poisonous wine;
Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kissed
By nightshade, ruby grape of Proserpine;
Make not your rosary of yew-berries,
Nor let the beetle nor the death-moth be
Your mournful Psyche, nor the downy owl
A partner in your sorrow's mysteries;
For shade to shade will come too drowsily,
And drown the wakeful anguish of the soul.

But when the melancholy fit shall fall
Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud,
That fosters the droop-headed flowers all,
And hides the green hill in an April shroud;
Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose,
Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave,
Or on the wealth of globed peonies;
Or if thy mistress some rich anger shows,
Imprison her soft hand, and let her rave,
And feed deep, deep upon her peerless eyes.

She dwells with Beauty -Beauty that must die;
And Joy, whose hand is ever at his lips
Bidding adieu; and aching Pleasure nigh,
Turning to poison while the bee-mouth sips:
Ay, in the very temple of Delight
Veiled Melancholy has her sovran shrine,
Though seen of none save him whose strenuous tongue
Can burst Joy's grape against his palate fine:
His soul shall taste the sadness of her might,
And be among her cloudy trophies hung.

-Ode on Melancholy

going going gone

..shot with my digital camera at 640x480...on a cab ride home one camera is meant for photo not video hence the low resolution...but it worked out...little jumpy and has a bit of art school 'feel' but it's my first attempt at video...sad/creepy music from the band stars..

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

slow hands

this is one of my more abstract works, based on a very innocent beginning. i shot my hand against the corner of a textured white wall, the stripes are shadows from sunlight being filtered through blinds.

a dream like mine

Walking around the Seattle Center, early spring. Stumbled upon this kids ride that reminded me of those old Donald Duck cartoons, that I watched as a kid. I loved Donald Duck and his crazy antics, and when i was younger i was able to mimic his quack...i could entertain myself hours...quacking it up....

A great deal of work went into this image using a variety of techniques. Multiple Photoshop filters, and some digital painting. Very pleased with the final dreamy result.

lost cause

Walking along the beach one day, close to where i live, stumbled upon two beach forts during low tide. I went back the following day, but the ocean had claimed them for her own. Sniff, Sniff. I dig the haphazard view of this shot and the horizon in the distance.

I had to remove a sea gull and a ship that took away from the lonesome fort. Faux holga filer, cross processing filter, applied the image a couple of times to create greater colour depth....

Title taken from Beck, music video follows..

charlotte sometimes

Out for a stroll one day near the Space needle, early spring, TULIPS in full effect. Single raw shot, so i could bring out greater detail/saturation in Photoshop. Small amount of cropping to remove the concrete sidewalk and tulip stems to give the shot a more 'artsy' feel. I seem to be enamored these days with the faux holga filter, I know, some of my work looks a little too processed but in this case i think the effect worked quite well..

The title comes from my favorite Cure song, Charlotte follows..

sur la route

Sur la route, or on the road, obviously or maybe not so obvious, the title comes from a novel by Jack Kerouac. I love Jack, my favorite work being The Dharma Bums, check it out, if your looking for a buddhist/beat read. Such a shame he could never kick the habit of alcohol, and the 'drink' ultimately killed him in the end.

Super lucky with this shot, driving with a friend last August, me in the passenger seat snapping away. The car is actually facing away, ie what your seeing is the tail lights of the car and not the head lights...

going steady....

This is my favorite work to was shot the same time vigilante was shot...scroll down if your also made me realize that i might have a little 'something/something' in me, call it talent or a gift...

Converted image to black and white, and then applied an infrared filter a couple of times to bring out heavy contrasts of the straps and young trees...horizontal flip of the image to bring out greater depth and the 'cross' effect'...i then had to do a little painting through layers to bring back the larger tree slightly and far away wall...

..the title is taken from the band death from above 1979..i couldn't find a good version of going steady on the web, but this song fits the image/title as well.

albert abandoned

Walking around a military graveyard, near discovery park. This fella had his own space in the cemetery. I like the gravestone against the empty abandoned shed.

Converted original photo to black and white, took a black brush and started painting out a circle to create a little mood....

Saturday, May 9, 2009

On my way to work in the morning, I pass on by a string of street lights in front of key arena. At 3am Key Arena has a very quiet, lonely feel. Some what of a blurry image but I knew this image had potential.

First, I took a black brush and started painting out areas in the photo. The building in the background had to go, as well as the first street post. I then a ran a filter to remove noise due to shooting at 3am. I then applied a faux holga filter to 'shorten' up the image and create a little moodiness. I then painted out the sidewalk up to the short posts, and then adjusted curve levels to shorten up the light from the lamps.

Very happy with the image, has a great mood and a sense of being well lost....
